Discrimination Against NRI Doctors: Call To Mamta Banerjee To Repeal Shocking West Bengal Medical Council Rule

The newly elected chief minister of West Bengal, Mamta Banerjee, has emphasized to rebuild West Bengal with the aid of non-resident Indians (NRIs) who have been virtually ostracized during the long Left-front government rule.  Mamta has set up a new “NRI Cell” to welcome the NRIs and sent an warm invitation to Bengal expatriates to invest and return to their home state.  But her call is virtually meaningless for the thousands of Bengal-based NRI doctors who are no longer considered as registered physicians in West Bengal – thanks to a mindless new law passed by the devious West Bengal Medical Council (WBMC) that automatically cancels registration of an NRI doctor who have adopted citizenship in his/her adopted country for personal reasons.  Only the WBMC has enacted this mindless law against the NRI doctors.  PBT president has called the Bengal chief minister to step and immediately repeal this atrocious law in order for the NRI doctors to return to Bengal (see the news reports below).
