Government Makes False Claim About New Medical Course Using The Name Of Royal College in UK

The Mamata Banerjee government is in soup once again as they have recently advertised that a new post-graduate course for family practice would be started in 2012 in collaboration with the prestigious UK-based Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP) to improve the standard of healthcare in West Bengal.  After PBT contacted the Royal College, it was informed that although the Bengal government contacted the Royal College, the RCGP did not approve any such course as their proposal is under review.  In fact, RCGP international chief, Sandy Mather, in a personal letter to PBT president Dr. Kunal Saha has clarified this and informed that they have already asked the Bengal government to immediate take out the name of RCGP from all promotional advertisements in India.  Ironically, Mamata Banerjee is not only the chief minister, she is also the health minister of West Bengal.  See the full story below which is published in The Telegraph today.
