The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed additional charge sheet against disgraced ex-MCI chief, Dr. Ketan Desai allegedly for allowing extra students for MBBS in Ram Murti Smarak Institute Medical Sciences, a private medical college in Utter Pradesh, when Desai was still at the helm of Medical Council of India (MCI) (see the news below). Apart from Desai, CBI has also filed charges against one Dr. Suresh Shah, who was an additional inspector at MCI hired by Desai, and also Dr. V.K. Shrotiya, Dean of the said medical institute, both of whom were involved with a criminal conspiracy with Desai who was arrested through a sting operation in 2010 by CBI while taking bribes from another private medical college in Punjab. Desai is still awaiting for the criminal trial to start but even while free on bail, he has already managed to get himself elected “unopposed” to the Gujarat University Senate. A new PIL was filed by PBT this week in Gujarat High Court against Gujarat University for removal of Desai from the university Senate (see news below).
